I shipped a opensource motor controller and datalogging system for Greenpower race cars, designed in order to maximise the speed and reduce the cost of these vechiles designed by young engineers and university teams. The motor controller is based around the RPI pico w and is a simple THT based pcb easy for teenagers to assemble and fix when at races, it's currently being made by jlcpcb thanks to onboard and I should be able to fit it to the car next week. Picture of me and my friends car jaws included which has been 13 years of work in the making. github.com/Gregor-Davies/Zevallos

I made a macroboard for the Onboard grant using EasyEDA. I also created a case for it with onshape. Check it out here: Onshape: cad.onshape.com/documents/ec1b175ae07c96f0b5443a76/w/207dcb8bf774dd1a4f3dc20[…]efc01d830568802?renderMode=0&uiState=66b56a44e2aada484a581069 Github: github.com/Rand0m0User1/macropad *The PCBs are still in production, I still need to program the board, and I don't have a 3d printer (might have to resort to an 3dp service - if anyone knows a cheap and reliable one lmk) so it'll be a while until I'm able to assemble

10 hours through with the Ball-tracking robot, here's how it's looking! I have completed a few test programs, one for basic camera functionality, one for OpenCV image processing functions, and one for the motor! I also mounted my camera to my pan-tilt servo mount (darn those things are so hard to assemble) and made a schematic and started wiring! Here is my code right now: github.com/yashsethu/ball_track_robot

I'd like to showcase two little PCB's I made the last couple days. First is my redesigned 7-40V to 5V regulator, which I had to remake after following a tutorial so that JLC could assemble it. That has since gotten the Onboard grant and is on the way! I also made a USB A or C input to 3 USB A and 1 USB C output hub, very roughly following Hack Club's USB Hub tutorial. I had to change out almost every header component multiple times to make it work, so I really hope it does. That project is pending approval by Onboard. Regulator: github.com/hackclub/OnBoard/tree/main/projects/homemadestepdown Hub: github.com/hackclub/OnBoard/pull/830

I made a 24V to 5V low emi PCB using Kicad! To be clear, I followed a tutorial on it, but I have never used the software before and had some fun with it overall. Unfortunately, I can't order it with assembly as the components aren't available with JLCPCB. Now I'm redesigning it myself to use components they can assemble. Day 130 Today I tried to test my github autodeploy code. I first got to install git, node, and npm onto a free oracle VM I have running and cloned the code to the server. After that I played around with it, updating node among other things to try to get it to work. I think I have to reconfigure the firewall, but don't want to do it today while I am tired because I could screw something up. On another note, my group's trail PCB is about to ship from JLC! We should have everything need to assemble our boards in 3-5 days.

Day 115 || 1 of #15-days-in-public I ordered my Magic 8 Ball board! I also hopped on a call with my trail group and braved integration hell, but made lots of progress. We verified our board can run on battery power and jerry rigged LoRa antenna to the board after we found JLCPCB did not assemble the antenna mount. We had some very cursed issues that magically went away when we made the LED on the pico blink in random parts of the code. It works now & we shipped it!

Winter Wonderland - Days 5 and 6/10! (#hardware-party) I passed out before I could write an update yesterday, so this'll contain my progress for both today and yesterday 😅 Using bullet points because they seemed to work well for my last update: Progress: • Printed motor slider block • Proceeded to break motor slider block when I rode my bike without metal plates clamping the plastic :| • Soldered banana plugs to ESC motor output • Soldered hall effect sensor to long wire and crimped end to plug into ESC connector • Added y-joint to power throttle and crimped throttle sense cable for ESC as well Next Steps: • Assemble motor and speed controller to bike (use broken slider block because break is along layer lines and those will be clamped by aluminum plates) • Cable management for wires on bike • Hot glue hall effect brake setup to handles (only temporarily) • Testing :) CAD for reference

Winter Wonderland - Day 4/10! (#hardware-party) I'm super tired today, so I'm going to keep this update short with bullet points: Progress: • Got motor mounting plate made on router! • Received last connector I needed to hookup battery to speed controller • Soldered different connector types to wire • Made first basic configuration for speed controller (completely untested) Next Steps: • 3D print motor mount slider block • 3D print pulley • Assemble all major components to bike • Wire everything (a lot of things!) • Cable management • Test the esc configuration I thought of another addition to the project as well. It would be nice to have a small bike computer with gps and a high contrast e-ink style display. This is definitely not going to be possible in these 10 days, but it's another thing to do after the base bike is done! As always, here's the CAD for reference, and I'm open to suggestions! (The pictures will be better tomorrow I promise)

Day 1 of #10-days-in-public: not exactly the project I rsvp’ed with because I’ve been busy working on this Other Thing—I’m running a booth with Liv and Belle at a conference for high school girls in Vermont tomorrow to demo Sprig & talk about Hack Club, so I’ve been thinking of how to make that fun and engaging. In preparation for that, today, I spun up an interactive web thing (similar to hackclub/assemble-tv-thing) and also assembled a Sprig console.

*What's Henry™ Been Up to After Assemble?*™ --------------------------------------------------- The question on all of your minds: What's Henry™ Doing With His Time After Assemble™? Ever since the groundbreaking release of his team's Assemble™ project, the world has awaited his next ship™. When asked about this, he will say: "_I'm working on a few different projects_" What he means to say is that he currently has 12 windows open, 5 of them Firefox™ instances, each with more tabs then can fit on the navigation bar. One of those browser windows is entirely devoted to Wikipedia™ pages that he opens, and then refuses to close until he fully reads, despite the fact that he has no interest in doing so. In another window, he has everything from Ben Eater 8-bit breadboard CPU schematics, to Rust™ documentation, to TensorFlow™ docs and a partially written auto-encoder. He also has 3 Sprig ™windows, and article on how BitTorrent™ works, and a random CVE™. There is also an article on TradeMark™ Law, that he has clearly not read. There is even the skeleton of a 6502™ Emulator™ that he may or may not finish. There's a few 3Blue™1Brown™ videos that he's stuck trying to follow. There is an article on how memory works that he does not remember if he has read. In another window, we have 1 Gig of raw Wikipedia™ data, and a Visual™ Studio™ Code™ window with code for an GO™ algorithm he is trying to use to compress said 1 Gig of Wikipedia™ data. Beyond that he has a Logisim™ window, with a partially designed ALU™ that he is trying to work on. Each time he makes progress on one project, he gets interested in something else and opens 100 tabs for that. He is secretly hoping for his computer to crash and wipe his computer he can reorganize. He is spending large amounts of time studying useless aspects of computer science™, and math™. It has been like this since Assemble™ ended, and will continue indefinitely. This has been What's Henry™ Been Up to After Assemble?™. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for skimming over: _What's Henry™ Been Up to After Assemble?_™

been very fortunate to be able to spend the last few weeks in my beautiful home country!! (tons if pics on my instagram if you wanna see!!) i had to miss assemble to be here, and while i'm spending time here, i'm realizing that there is no polish high-school STEM community - no high school hackathons, little to no hack club presence, etc. i'm been thinking about it for a few days, and i'm feeling more and more motivated to host a high school/college summer hackathon here next year. if you'd like to help me navigate the fun fun world of organizing an event 5000km away from where i live, lmk! 🎅 anyway! cheers from poland :polandparrot:(some rlly cool scrapbook updates incoming)

so long, and thanks for all the dinos Thank you everyone who made Assemble possible!! It was just so amazing to meet people who I’ve only talked to online :blobheart:, speedrun the slides for my workshop at assemble :partyparrot:, run around at midnight trying to figure out what was going on with the ctf :org: This was probably the best weekend of my entire summer ❤️ I’m running a hackathon this September, and will totally take inspiration from the vibe and everything at Assemble. And if you’re in the bay area, please come, I’d love to meet you!!

:assemble: ASSEMBLE SHIP :shipitparrot: The internet is a scary place — why don’t we keep it that way? Blind Spot (BS) is a model that ONLY allows you to view fake news on the internet. On a google search, it removes all reliable sources and only shows the most extreme results. On a page itself, it is glorified & prioritized if it is fake news, and if it’s a real source, it all becomes ZACHARY LATTA THE FOURTH OUR SAVIOR :zrl: In the video, you’ll see a bunch of searches just disappear, leaving only fake news 🪄 It was super fun to push my limits with a timed 90 minute hack, and where I had my first interaction with Docker and GPT2. So happy to meet all of you, had an amazing time 💖 Huge shoutout to the entire Assemble team :blob_comfy: As always, open sourced at github.com/rajanwastaken/blind-spot

Small ship / update to ticketing.assemble.hackclub.com: Once you upload your negative COVID test, you’ll be emailed your Assemble ticket. It’ll also be available at the bottom of the page. @tetraoxygen put in a ton of work to make the whole ticketing system possible! It even supports Apple Wallet. Assemble is only 2 days out!
